Tetela de Ocampo is the most recent magical town whose historical and cultural legacy can be seen in the magnificent murals. Its privileged location guarantees spectacular views from its viewpoint.   • Museum of Los Tres Juanes

    In order to learn the historical importance of this Magical Town and its inhabitants, it is imperative to visit the museum of Los Tres Juanes. You can various objects such as find pre-Hispanic pieces found in the region, or objects that show the participation of the Tetelenses in different historical moments of the country, as La Batalla del 5 de Mayo (The Battle of May 5th).

  • Tlapalcalli Museum House

    This property, formerly studio of the plastic artist Rafael Bonilla Cortés, currently shelters sculptures, reliefs and part of the pictorial work of its owner. In the Casa Museo Tlapalcalli, you can appreciate landscapes, portraits, nudes and everyday scenes of rural life of Tetela.

  • Church of Santa María de la Asunción

    The church Santa María de la Asunción stands on the highest part of Tetela de Ocampo. In 2012, this church was awarded “Church of the Year” due to its gothic style that dates back to the nineteenth century. The elements that influenced on its award were its structure, iconography, and Latin cross.

  • Historical murals

    Walking through the streets of the downtown of Tetela de Ocampo will teach you about the living history of that town through its murals. Located on the side walls of the Municipal Palace, they express the details of this glorious episode where the Tetelenses and other native people defeated the French army.

    Some of the delicacies that you can taste in this Magical Town are gorditas de alberjón, tamales in corn leaf accompanied by a cup of coffee, tixmole with beef, chicken or pork, or stew of chayotextle, which is the chayote root.
