This Magical Town is located in the heart of the Sierra Madre Oriental. It is a mosaic of vegetation, climatic diversity, ravines, mountains and water bodies. Did you know that it was the capital of the Mexican Republic for three days in 1920?

  • Monumental Virgen de Guadalupe

    This monumental Virgen de Guadalupe is 23 meters high (75 feet) and is located on El Tabacal neighborhood right on a bank of stones. According to legend, the virgin appeared in this place.

  • The Xochipila

    In pre-Hispanic times, this boulder was a ceremonial center dedicated to the Mexica god Xochipilli. Come and find why it is so special.

  • Path and Viewpoint of La Cruz Celestial

    Back in the day, this road made of stone used to take you to Xicotepec. Nowadays, it takes you to La Cruz Celestial and to the fascinating glass viewpoint situated on the top of the Coxolitepetl hill.

  • Parish of San Juan Bautista

    After a fired destroyed what was an Augustinian cementery, it became the Parish of San Juan Bautista. Influenced by the eighteenth century, this has a gothic style which is evident in its rosette-type window in the facade.

    The gastronomy of Xicotepec is delicious due to its harvest, especially the high quality coffee. Do not forget to try the cecina with enchiladas, the different kinds of cheese, the chiltepín stews, the chicatanas and the quelites.

    How to get there?

    A three-hour drive through the Arco Norte highway and the highway 119D will take you to Xicotepec right from the city of Puebla. A different route is to take the Tlaxco-Tejocotal highway to then turn to the Xicotepec deviation.
